  What is biofortification?

Ans:          Biofortification is the process of breeding crops with higher levels of vitamins and minerals, or higher protein and healthier fats. Breeding for improved crops with higher levels of vitamins and minerals, or higher protein and healthier fats.

Breeding is done with the objective of improving protein content and quality. Oil content and quantity, vitamin content and micronutrient and mineral content. Eg of biofortification : Vitamin A enriched carrots, spinach, pumpkin, vitamin c enriched bitter gourd

 

 

Tissue culture

Ans:  Plant tissue culture refers to the maintenance and growth of plant cells, tissues and organs on a suitable synthetic medium in vitro and the whole plant could be regenerated from explants.
